The Cockcomb Jaguar Reserve

One of the biggest protected areas in Belize is the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. The reserve worldwide considered one the most important site for Jaguar preservation was founded in 1990. Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is a good example of tropical forest biodiversity where hundreds of species of plants, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians live together.
Is believed the Cockscomb host the highest numbers of jaguars in the world.

Daily From Placencia.
Departure from your hotel at 7 am. During the way to Cockscomb you can admire the sea and lagoon of Placencia. We will pass the banana farm and the citrus farm before to approach the road that lead us to the reserve. Stop to Maya Centre village to buy tickets to the reserve and if you wish some Mayan souvenir. In the Maya Centre you can also buy some organic chocolate made from Mayan people.
The dirt road to the Jaguar reserve is absolutely beautiful and green. Your guide will tell you about flora and fauna of the reserve.
Once you reached the reserve you will start to hike to the jungle and learn about the flora and the local fauna. You will be impressed about the officinal plants and herbs that Mayan people use from centuryes to cure them selves.
After a pocket lunch provided by us, you will start the next part of the tour where you will discover the stann creek river by floating tubing. After all you will refresh your self with a swim in the waterfall.
In the evening we get back to Placencia and take you to your hotel.
